I thought Weird Al was dead.

My brother showed this to me this morning I thought it was funny. So I am sharing this with you. I remember him from the Eat it days and for those of you that are too young he was making fun of Michael Jackson's Beat it. Enjoy!

Banana Colada Waffles

These are the absolute best. The waffles are moist, cake like, enough to eat plain.

2 c milk
1/4 veg oil
2 eggs
2 bananas
Mix all together
2 c flour
1 tsp salt
1tsp soda
2 tsp baking powder
2 Tbsp sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon
Mix and add to wet ingredients
Add more milk if too thick. Bake in hot waffle iron and serve with topping.

Pineapple Topping
1 can pineapple tidbits
1/2 c sugar
2 Tbsp cornstartch
1/2 tsp coconut flavoring

Drain pineapple juice into a pan and mix in sugar and cornstarch. Cook on medium heat until it bubbles and turns into glaze. Remove from heat and stir in pineapple chunks and flavoring. Serve over warm waffles. Enjoy!

The most ridiculous item of the day.

Oh wouldn’t this be so nice at the next tailgate party? Back your truck up to the camp fire and be the envy of all your friends. This item is ridiculous simply because someone somewhere will get the bright idea to sit in this while his/her spouse drives down the road. Imagine for a moment pulling up to one of these while cruising down the highway. Do you wear a motorcycle helmet with this or bike helmet? Who knows maybe this will open the door to a new sport.

Dana's Meatloaf

I do not like matloaf myself in particular. I got this recipe from my neighbor in our first apartment. This was the first meatloaf I found bareable. I guess I'm not a great seller of my product. BUT anyone who has tried this recipe really likes it and usually asks for it. So good luck and I hope you will atleast give it a try.

1 1/2 lb ground beef
3/4 c (approx 10) saltine crackers
1/4 c chopped onions
1 1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1 egg, beaten

Sauce:
1/3 c ketchup
1 T mustard
2 T brown sugar

Mix ingredients for meat, mix all ingredients for sauce seperately. Put meat into pan, I usually use a glass bread pan. Pack the meat down and poke 1/2 inch deep holes every couple inches in meat. Pour sauce over meat and bake 350 for 50-60 min.

Bon Apetit!

It's that time again!!!

"Girl Scout Cookies are an icon of American culture." I have to say I am a pure sucker when it comes to Girl Scout Cookies (GSC). I was once a brownie, which equivelent to a cub or wolf in the Boy Scouts. I'm pretty sure that is where I was introduced to the wonderful taste of a Samoa and the Thin Mints.

Surprisingly, the Girl Scouts (GS) aren't a big program in the state of Utah. Living in our old house, we never had the pleasure of the GS knocking on our door in February. I have to say I would look forward to seeing them, but never did, so I would have to make my purchase of the regular 2 boxes of Samoa's and 1 box Thin Mints at the local grocery store. BUT, I do most of my shopping at Walmart and since they don't sell them outside Walmart, most years I did not get to indulge.

This weekend I am in Boise visiting my father and ran an errand to the local Albertson's. There they were: A table with the boxes lined up. Now, I typically don't carry cash with me, so I was out of luck. BUT, then I remembered I had my other debit card and there was a Wells Fargo across the street. So yes, I went out of my way to withdrawl cash and came back to purchase my favorites.

I got back to the car and could not get the package open fast enough. And by the time I got back to my father's house, I had downed 4 cookies. And it gets worse. So my dad had one, and Spencer probably had 4, and I ate the other 5. Yes, I successfully woofed down 2/3s a package of GSC. They were so good. Crunchy, carmelly, and the bit of chocolate. Now I have a tummy ache. I'm sitting here blogging, trying to waste some time before heading to bed. Because if I go to bed with a tummy ache, it gets worse through the night and I am down right sick in the morning.

I highly recommend the spluge on the GSC. Yes, it's the most expensive cookies for the quantity you get, but "They’re (GSC) also the backbone of the Girl Scout Cookie Program, the leading entrepreneurial program for girls." Help support your community, buy a box or two or three in my case of Girl Scout Cookies.

Recipe Friday

So my coworker and a couple of her fellow bloggers have decided to post recipes on Fridays. I thought it was a great way to share and to find new recipes for yourself.

The recipe for today is Tortilli soup. This is one of my husband's favorite recipes. It is so yummy. I found it in a Taste of Home magazine years ago.

Ingredients:
1 pkg Italian sausage link (cut into bit size pieces)
1 cans (14-1/2 ounces each) Diced tomatoes with basil, garlic and oregano, undrained
1 can cut green beans, drained
1 can beef broth
1 1/2 cups water, probably add a little more
1 pkg refrigerated cheese tortellini
2 stems green onion, chopped

Directions:
Brown meat for just a min or two, add tomatoes, water and broth. Add tortellini and cook according to directions on package. Add beans and onions last. Heat through and serve!
