Well, it's been a while since I've blogged. I guess I haven't been the devoted blogger. I think I might have the attention span of a fly. My newest obsession has been facebook. LOVE IT! Through myspace, I was able to catch up with a ton of old high school friends, through facebook, I've been able to reconnect with some old church friends. People I haven't seen in like, 13 years! It's been so fun to see how people have grown up, married and have like 4 kids of their own!
I remember in high school my mother would always tell me, life isn't like this forever. People grow up and change and none of this matters. But at the time, I was so caught up in being a teenager, I couldn't see past the weekend. I can honestly say I miss being a teenager. But the part I think I miss is not having responsibility or having to take responsibility. Now when I bust my 9 year old for breaking the rules, I have to laugh.
A few weeks ago, I had to go into work for a couple hours. I told Spencer the night before I was going in early, so I could get back earlier for him to go play. When I am gone, Spencer is supposed to stay in the house and no friends until I get home. Well, my coworker that also lives in my neighborhood, came into work and says, "Yeah, Spencer was out cruising around this morning." I'm like, "WHAT?" So when I got home, I had one of those moments with my child busting him on breaking the rules. He has no knowledge of how I know and it just reminded me of the times when I thought I was smarter than my mother. Those times when I thought I was being so sneaky and she didn't know what I was doing. Almost always, I was busted. I say almost, but assume she knew everything and chose to battle over the bigger things.
I love being a parent... most days, lol. I can be so mad at Spencer for something, then he says something funny or sweet. During the Olympics Spencer and I would camp out on the couch for a couple hours every night. It didn't matter what was on, we loved to watch. There was one night we were watching the track races. Usaine Bolt was the guy from Jamaica I believe that was cleaning everyone's plow in every event. So we were watching the runners line up for the race, each one having their superstitious routine. Bolt sets his feet into the block and does the catholic cross thing across his head and chest. Spencer looks at me with this bewilderment on his face and says, "He can't talk." It was so funny, yet he was so serious. It was one of those moments I will never forget.
